The month of July so far has remained very good in terms of rains for the state of Odisha which has been witnessing good rains since the beginning of the month. Most of the districts have even recorded a few heavy spells during the initial days of July though post that the rain intensity across most parts reduced.
In fact, seeing the present scenario, it seems that most parts of Odisha will most likely bid adieu to July with some more good rains and will welcome the month of August with a rainy day. In fact, within a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Baripada recorded 39 mm of rains, Chandbali 28, Paradip 25 mm, Angul 17 mm and Cuttack witnessed 12 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, the axis of Monsoon trough is now running from North Rajasthan to the Bay of Bengal across Gangetic West Bengal. A feeble cyclonic circulation is also over the northwest Bay of Bengal. In addition to this, humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are reaching over many parts of the state, thereby leading to increase in the humidity levels.

In the wake of these weather systems, moderate rains are expected to continue in many places in the state. One or two heavy spells are also possible over Odisha for the next 24-48 hours. Thereafter, the rain intensity may decrease. However, around August 6, another weather system is expected to develop over Odisha coast which will result in giving moderate to heavy falls over parts of Odisha.
Recently Bhubaneswar and adjoining regions had experienced floods due to heavy rains and thus the recurrence of waterlogging and flooding once again cannot be ruled out. The coastal region of the state in contrast with the interior districts are most likely to witness more rains.
