Patchy rains to continue over plains of North India

August 11, 2018 2:02 PM |

Punjab and haryana Rain

Northwest plains include the regions like Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan and Northwest Uttar Pradesh. For the last many days, this region has been witnessing break Monsoon conditions which means constant dry weather or very light patchy rains.

And Monsoon showers over all the aforementioned regions have been far and few for the last couple of days. Though occasional showers were being experienced, heavy Monsoon rains have mostly remained at bay.

On the last day too, few pockets of the plains of Northwest India were able to record some light spells, barring parts of Delhi that recorded moderate showers. Otherwise, the region remained more or less dry. In the span of 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Friday, Delhi’s Safdarjung Observatory recorded 45 mm of rains, whereas, Palam recorded 0.6 mm of light spells. This is clear from these light rains that the rains were patchy and were more at one pocket while light on the other.

Other regions that have experienced rains during the similar time frame include, Bathinda at 13.4 mm of rains, Faridabad Gurugram, and Hisar recorded 2 mm of rains each, Ferozepur 1 mm, Rohtak 0.6 mm, and Ludhiana, and Bhiwani observed some traces of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, the western arm of the axis of Monsoon trough would gradually shift further towards the foothills of Himalayas. On its journey, during the last 24 hours, it has caused good rains over parts of North Rajasthan, northwest Uttar Pradesh and parts of Delhi NCR.

Rainfall is likely to continue in patches over Haryana, Punjab, northeast Rajasthan and Delhi for the next 24 hours. Parts of northwest Uttar Pradesh may also get good rains.
