It seems that the states of Northwest plain will bid adieu the ongoing week with a dry weather. The weather conditions do not seem to permit very good rains for the state of Punjab and Haryana until July 11. However, light on and off rains are still expected to keep showing over the northwest plains.

Though Monsoon has covered some parts of Haryana, it is yet to reach the state of Punjab. Despite this, rains took a declining trend in Haryana while most parts of Punjab have been witnessing light rains. Some rains even occurred in the last 24 hours as well. Moreover, some rains are predicted over parts of both the states today.

As per Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to a Western Disturbance which is over Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, a trough is also passing from North Punjab to Bay of Bengal across Haryana. This system gave good rains over parts of these states.

Moreover, on account of this, scattered light rain are expected to show up even today over North Punjab and foothills of Punjab. Thus, districts like Gurdaspur, Nawanshahr, Patiala, and Ludhiana may receive scattered showers today. A few districts of North and East Haryana like Ambala, Yamuna Nagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Faridabad, and Gurugram may also receive light to moderate rains. But the intensity of these showers will be light in nature and are not anticipated to intensify until July 11.

Hence, the next 3 days for the states of northwest plains, particularly over Punjab and Haryana, will be dry with a few isolated, localized spells only. On the contrary, the western districts of Punjab and Haryana like Bathinda, Ferozepur, Hissar, Bhiwani, and Sirsa are likely to continue with the dry and warm weather.
