New Year has come up with the perfect weather for visiting the famous Hindu shrine of Goddess Vaishno Devi. As per Skymet Weather, sky conditions are likely to remain clear with bright sunshine, with isolated patches of clouds.

With bright sunshine, the weather during the day would remain cold and pleasant. The day temperature in Katra would settle around 17°C and the minimum at 6°C. However, at the Bhawan, the minimums would be freezing cold and the day temperatures would also range between 10°C to 12°C.
It is anticipated that chances of rain and snow are very less during this month, therefore, landslides will not be a hindrance along the way. The pilgrims should carry enough woolens to keep themselves warm from the cold winds.

As per weathermen, winter rain usually occurs due to the passage of Western Disturbances across Jammu and Kashmir. However, this year, rainy spells were very less due to less number of active Western Disturbances.
This season, good rainfall only occurred between December 10 and 12 over Katra and Vaishno Devi. Thereafter, only one or two light spells were observed in the month of December, but most of the time, the weather remained was dry.
