During the month of March, Kerala was surplus by 45 percent and from March 1 to April 6, the state was surplus by 32 percent, making it the most surplus state in India at present.
Rains have been lashing the state of Kerala for quite some time. In fact, moderate to heavy rains lashed many parts of Kerala during the last 24 hours. Moreover, Kerala at present is one of the only states in India witnessing Pre Monsoon rainfall activities along with some parts of Karnataka.
In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Kochi recorded a whopping 73 mm of rains, Kottayam 60 mm, Punalur 39 mm, Alappuzha 37 mm. Other parts of Kerala saw some light to moderate rains.
Now also, these activities are expected to continue with heavy rainfall expected in many parts, particularly over the southern parts of the states.
