Updated on May 26, 2015: Pre-Monsoon rains continue to bathe the cities nestled in Northeast India, including Cherrapunji, even though other parts of India like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Delhi NCR, Gujarat and Rajasthan continue to reel under intense heat wave. Moreover, Northeast India remains to be the coolest part of the country at present while the maximum temperature continues to soar above 45°C in other parts of the country.

Multiple weather systems have given light to moderate rainfall in several parts of states in Northeast India. While the cyclonic circulation over Assam and another cyclonic circulation over sub-Himalayan West Bengal have enhanced the rainfall activity over all the northeastern states, the moisture-laden winds from Bay of Bengal have also played a pivotal role in giving decent rainfall over Northeast India in last 24 hours.
