The Sri Lankan nation has seen good rainfall activity in the past few days. The Pre-Monsoon season has begun over the island nation with a bang and rains have been occurring since then. The last 24 hours were also not too different, and the region did record some good showers.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Hambantota recorded a whopping 26.3 mm of rainfall followed by Galle at 19 mm. Other areas to have recorded some rains include Batticaloa 18.1 mm, Kandy 4.9 mm, Pottuvil 4.4 mm, and Ratmalana 4 mm.
These rains can be attributed to the low-pressure area which lies over Southwest Bay of Bengal close to equatorial and south of Sri Lanka. This system is likely to become more marked during next 2-3 days. A trough is also extending from this system up to Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Thus, during the next 24 to 48 hours, Sri Lanka is expected to witness light to moderate rain and thundershower activities. Cities of Galle, Hambantota, Galle, Batticaloa, Kandy, and Pottuvil may receive some rains.
Thus, due to these rains, temperatures are also expected to witness a drop leading to pleasant weather conditions over Sri Lanka.
