Pre-Monsoon rains to appear over Kolkata again

May 8, 2017 6:40 PM |

Pre-Monsoon rains to appear over Kolkata againKolkata weather has once again become dry after remaining slightly rainy during the first two days of the month of May. While light rains did make an appearance over the city during the beginning, the city has remained almost dry ever since.

The maximum temperature has also witnessed an increase since then and is currently settling at 36.2 degree Celsius which happens to be a notch above the normal levels. The minimum temperature is also two degrees above normal settling at 27.8 degrees.

Now, weather gods have decided to bestow some kindness over the residents of the City of Joy. In fact, a day or two of rains may even result in marginal drop in both the maximum and minimum temperatures over the city.

A trough is running from the northern parts of the country where a cyclonic circulation persists up to the East Assam across Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal. This system is in close proximity of the capital city of West Bengal.

Thus, during the next 24 to 48 hours, the possibility of scattered rain and thundershower activity over the city cannot be ruled out. Strong winds are also likely to blow over the region during this period. Thus, Kolkata may witness some weather activity tomorrow and day after which may bring down the temperatures to some extent.
