While heatwave like conditions are prevailing over many areas, heatwave has gripped a city or two of the states of Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal. In fact, the eastern part of the country is at present one of the hottest with maximums above normal in most parts.

However, rain gods are all set to bestow some kindness over the residents of East India. At present, no weather system is currently over the region. However, a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over Jharkhand and adjoining South Bihar during the next 24 hours. A trough will also extend from this up to Telangana.

Due to the above mentioned weather features, rain and thunderstorm activity is expected to occur over many areas of Bihar and Jharkhand including the capital cities of Ranchi and Patna around April 30 and May 1. Gaya will also receive some rains during the same period. Kolkata in West Bengal along with a few cities in the state may also witness some weather activity.

Thus, heatwave will then abate from the region with temperatures observing a decreasing trend.
