Prolonged rains coming up for West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar

July 27, 2022 7:42 PM |

The states of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal have been the most consistent deficit pockets during this monsoon season so far. There has been partial recovery during the previous spell, but it continues to remain in shortfall of 45 percent.

However, good news is in cards for the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal in terms of revival of rains. These showers will be seen for a week or even longer in some parts. The reason for these upcoming rains is the shifting of the Monsoon trough northward, which was running south of its normal position. When the Monsoon trough shifts, it is even supposed to have embedded Cyclonic Circulations over Bihar, Jharkhand and adjoining areas.

During the next 24 hours, only light rains are expected over Bihar and Jharkhand. Tomorrow onward, we can expect gradual pick up of rains more over Bihar and Jharkhand and will continue until August 4. Rains in West Bengal will pick up and become more prominent around July 31 and continue for 3-4 days. Rains will be intense over all these states during the second half of the rainy episode.
