March 11, 2020 10:44 AM |

A fresh Western Disturbance is now approaching Western Himalayas. Under the influence of this system, light rains have occurred over parts of Uttarakhand during the last 24 hours.

Looking at the forecast, now, these rains will gradually increase in intensity over Himachal Pradesh as well. By evening or night today, many parts of Jammu and Kashmir as well as Ladakh will also start receiving rains and thundershowers. Some places might even see snowfall activities. This rain and snow will continue over many parts of western Himalayas until March 13.

During this time, we expect southern districts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir to get more intense weather activities. By March 14, the rain activities will reduce from Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh but will continue over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

By March 15, there will be a significant decrease in rain activities and snow. However, light scattered rains and isolated snowfall activities may continue until March 15 over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. By March 16, the weather will become clear.

Back to back Western Disturbances will be responsible for these prolonged weather activities over the Western Himalayas between March 11 and 15.

Meanwhile, the maximum temperatures will fall by 6 to 8 degrees over most places. Thereafter there will be a gradual rise.
