Prolonged spell of rain coming up for North India

July 5, 2022 5:14 PM |

North India had seen an extended and widespread spell of rain last week. After that spell, rains have remained patchy and off in nature. Now, due to the change in wind, high humidity has resulted in an increase of the discomfort levels.

The Monsoon trough which usually gives rain over North India is running far south of its normal position. Thus, North India needs to bank upon on the Western Disturbance for some rainfall activity. Then, these two will act in tandem for some rains.

Now also, something similar is to be seen, a Western Disturbance over the hills. Today, some rainfall activity is expected over the Hills and isolated pockets of the foothills of the Himalayas can also see some rains.

By tomorrow, winds will change direction along with the Monsoon trough and Western Disturbance will result in some scattered rainfall activities. Rains over North India including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan will increase gradually.

Rains will be seen to be light to moderate tomorrow and will gradually increase in the next 3-4 days. On July 8, isolated heavy spells may be seen as well. July 9 may also see some rainfall activities.
