In the same span of time, Alapuzha witnessed moderate intensity rain of 27 mm. Meanwhile, Cochin observed light rain to the tune of 4 mm, Airport Observatory of Kerala, 5 mm, Karipur 6 mm, Kottayam 0.8 mm, Thiruvananthapuram 0.6 mm and Kozhikode 0.2 mm of rain.

These hefty showers can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which persists over Southeast Arabian Sea off Kerala Coast. As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, the weather systems are likely to persist over the Sea.

It is anticipated that moderate to heavy intensity showers will continue. Kerala will witness good rain for another 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter the weather system is likely to weaken and hence rainfall activity will reduce.

Usually, Northeast Monsoon does not have much impact over Kerala but due to the formation of a weather system over the Arabian Sea, Kerala will receive goods rain. The weather across Kerala will be warm and humid despite the rainfall activity over the state. However, the mornings and nights will remain comfortable and the temperatures will settle below normal.
