For Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra, the first part of March is the leanest fruitful period in terms of rain. The region does not anticipate much rainfall activity during this month. It is due to continuous dry weather that the temperatures of both the regions are on a constant rise.

The maximum temperatures of both the regions are settling way above their normal levels by 3-4 degrees. While the minimums are above normal marginally.

It is normally the formation of any significant weather system in the Arabian Sea or a confluence zone over the area that gives rain thundershowers over the region which is the case at present. The weather system as a Depression lies in the Arabian Sea and an associated trough is also extending along Konkan and Goa region. This weather system would be causing rain and thundershowers over the region.

Along with this, the formation of a confluence zone over the area would also be adding to the rain and thundershowers over the region. However, as per Skymet Weather, the entire stretch of Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra that could expect showers, however, the intensity of rains would be more over northern parts of Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra in contrast with the southern region.

Regions like Mumbai Ratnagiri, Dahanu, Thane, Pune, Sangli and Satara stand strong chances of witnessing these rains.

Due to persistent cloud cover and on and off rains, the temperatures that were settling above normal may go down by a few notches.

Let’s see the impact of this weather on the agriculture belt of Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra:

Farmers are advised to complete harvesting of Rabi crops. Farmers are also recommended to irrigate Groundnut and vegetable crop as temperatures have increased significantly.
