Rains to increase over Andhra Pradesh, Odisha soon

Since last few days, Odisha has been receiving moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers. In spite of this, Odisha remains rain deficient by 6%. Further, Puri has recorded the highest rainfall of 102 mm. Also, several other districts such as Titlagarh, Bhabanipatnam, Dhenkanal and Balasore have been witnessing a good amount of rainfall activities.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Puri recorded 102 mm of rainfall, Titlagarh 58 mm, Bhabanipatna 55 mm, Balasore 50 mm, Cuttack 47 mm, Chandbali 42 mm, Bhubneshwar 41 mm, Gopalpur 26 mm, Dhenkanal 20 mm, Paradip 17 mm, Koraput 13.2 mm, Sambalpur 14 mm, Kheonjhargarh 12 mm and Angul 4.6 mm.

As per Skymet Weathermen, a low pressure area has been responsible for giving good Monsoon rains over South Odisha and adjoining areas. Further, this weather system is likely to shift towards South Odisha and South Chhattisgarh.

Due to this weather system, the intensity of these moderate to heavy Monsoon rains is expected to reduce significantly over Odisha. Moreover, the intensity over southern districts of Odisha is likely to increase further.
