kashmir snow1The hills of North India inclusive of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, as well as Uttarakhand have once again started to witness rainfall and snow.

In fact, during the last 24 hours, light rain and snow has occurred over northern parts of Jammu and Kashmir with isolated activities occurring over Himachal Pradesh.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Srinagar recorded Qazi Gund saw 6 mm of rains and the same amount of rains were observed over Srinagar as well. Gulmarg and Banihal on the other hand saw 3 mm of rains, each.

Now, light to moderate rains with few heavy spells will continue over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and a few parts of Uttarakhand on January 11 and 12. By January 13, rain intensity will start to reduce over jammu and Kashmir. Thereafter, Himachal Pradesh will also start to witness reduced weather activity.

This reduction will occur due to the movement of the Western Disturbance towards the east. On January 13, the state of Uttarakhand, however, will see an increase in the weather activities in terms of both rain and snowfall.

By January 13 evening, rainfall and snow will reduce from the entire hills of North India. Weather will start to clear up on January 14 onward wherein maximum temperatures will see a rise. Northerly winds will start to blow over the Northern Plains leading to drop in temperatures there, leading to dense to very dense fog in many parts of the plains.
