Widespread rain activity has been going on in different parts of the country for the last three days. Areas of North India including hills and plains, Central India and a few regions of South and East India as well have been receiving rains.

These activities have occurred on account of multiple weather systems over several parts of the country. Rainfall activity was also observed over parts of East Uttar Pradesh, East Bihar, Jharkhand and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim region.

However, the northeastern region of the country remained dry and free from witnessing any rains. In general, the northeastern region of the country, especially the extreme northern parts of the region including Upper Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and North Nagaland experience more rain activities as compared with the other parts of the region due to the movement of the Western Disturbance in an easterly direction.

However, there may not be any physical manifestation of the weather systems affecting the region in terms of wind pattern or cloudy weather due to the mountainous terrain.

As per Skymet Weather, the Western Disturbance and its induced cyclonic circulation gave widespread rain and snow in parts of Western Himalayas on February 11 and 12. This system resulted in rains over parts of northern plains and simultaneously over parts of East India in the last 2 days.

Counting on for the next two days, i.e., tomorrow and day after, parts of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland are also expected to witness some rain and thundershowers which would be followed by cloudy weather. Hailstorm activity may also be possible at isolated places of Northeast India.

Thus, places like Dibrugarh, Pasighat, Itanagar, Kohima are anticipated to witness light rain and thundershowers. While the other parts of the region may witness cloudy skies.
