Rain In Delhi Tonight And Tomorrow - Dense Fog On Weekend

January 22, 2025 11:33 AM |

Delhi has experienced an unusual spree of warmer days. The capital city recorded a hat trick of excess temperatures. The warmest among these was Sunday afternoon with the maximum climbing to 26.1°C, which was a massive 6.5°C above the normal level. This also became the warmest day of January in the last six years. Last two days, Monday and Tuesday, the base observatory at Safdarjung has recorded a day high of 24.5°C and 24.0°C, respectively. A similar range of temperature across various parts of the city and the base station Safdarjung is expected today, as well. A twist in the weather conditions is likely towards late night.

A western disturbance is marked over the Jammu & Kashmir region as an upper air system. An induced cyclonic circulation is marked over Punjab, Haryana and adjoining regions. Yet another cyclonic circulation is marked over the Southeast Rajasthan region over lower layers of the atmosphere. These features will be dragged slowly eastward tomorrow,  over West Uttar Pradesh and the foothills area.

Under the combined influence of these weather systems, Delhi is likely to have rain and thundershowers tonight and tomorrow. The weather activity is expected to start late in the night. To start with, the bright sun will raise comfort levels during the day by increasing the day temperatures. Some clouds are likely to come up in the evening hours. Rainy conditions will develop quite late in the night and continue thereafter.  Intermittent rains are likely to continue tomorrow morning and forenoon hours. The weather conditions will start improving in the evening and mostly become clear in the night.

The rising mercury level will be arrested tomorrow. However, the minimum temperatures will rise again to double digits for the next two days and drop thereafter. The weekend could become nippy with temperatures coming as low as 7°C. Dense fog is likely to make a comeback between 24th and 26th January 2025. The next western disturbance is expected on 28th January and later, but the weather activity will remain mostly confined to the mountains and the foothills.
