West Bengal Rains

During the last 24 hours, Jharkhand received light rainfall activity over isolated places. Rest of Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal witnessed almost dry weather conditions.

Now an active Western Disturbance across Jammu and Kashmir region and its induced upper air trough is extending from North Rajasthan to Jharkhand region across north Chhattisgarh and North Madhya Pradesh. This system would be moving eastwards slowly.

Due to the presence of both these weather systems, southeasterly/southerly air mass from Bay of Bengal will be affecting over Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal region. These winds are moist and warm in nature. Hence, rain and thundershowers with string winds will affect at many places initially starting from Bihar and Jharkhand then after 24 hours, shift over to West Bengal.

Moreover, during this period we also expect hailstorm activity and lightning strike in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. in the wake of string winds and hailstorm, crop damage is likely to occur, making it difficult for the farmers of these eastern states of India.

Places like Gaya, Patna, Bhagalpur, Kishanganj, Muzaffarpur, Ranchi, Daltonganj, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Kolkata, Malda, Bankura, Burdwan and Siliguri will witness rain and thundershowers. The city of joy, Kolkata is expected to witness moderate rain and thundershower.

Rain and thundershowers associated with hailstorm at isolated places will affect over Araria, Arwal, Aurangabad, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur, Buxar, Darbhanga, Gaya, Gopalganj, Jamui, Jehanabad, Kaimur (Bhabua), Katihar, Khagaria, Kishanganj, Lakhisarai, Madhepura, Madhubani, Munger, Muzaffarpur, Nalanda, Nawada, Pashchim Champaran, Patna, Purba Champaran, Purnia, Rohtas, Saharsa, Samastipur, Saran, Sheikhpura, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Siwan, Supaul and Vaishali the districts of Bihar and Jharkhand during next 48 hours.
