As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is prevailing over East Bihar and another cyclonic circulation is persisting over the eastern parts of Assam. In fact, a trough is also running from Sub Himalayan West Bengal to Gangetic West Bengal. Moreover, moisture incursion is taking place from the Bay of Bengal over the districts of Gangetic West Bengal.

In the wake of these combined weather phenomena, thunderclouds have formed over Gangetic West Bengal turning the sky condition cloudy to overcast. Districts such as Midnapore, Bankura, Murshidabad, Birbhum, and Kolkata are expected to witness rain and thundershower activities today.

In fact, the northern parts of Kolkata may record one or two heavy spells also. These pre-Monsoon are likely to be accompanied by strong winds and lightning strikes. Adjoining stations like Hugli and Burdwan may also observe violent thunderstorm activities during the next few hours.

As per weathermen, conditions seem to be favourable for weather activities to continue until tomorrow over Gangetic West Bengal. The temperatures have already dropped due to clouding over Kolkata. A further drop in the temperatures is expected. Thus, night in Kolkata and adjoining regions would be pleasant today.
