During the last 24 to 48 hours, many parts of Odisha received moderate rains with a few heavy spells. This was due to the wake of a Low-Pressure Area which at present is over Odisha and adjoining areas. The system had developed yesterday over Northwest Bay of Bengal close to the Odisha coast. Now, as this weather system will continue moving further westwards, therefore the intensity of rains and thundershowers will now reduce over Odisha. However, light to moderate rains may continue today as well. Tomorrow the weather will start clearing up. Majorly dry weather will prevail. However, light rains cannot be ruled out at one or two places tomorrow as well.
Since the last one month or so, successive Low-Pressure Areas and Depressions are forming over Northwest Bay of Bengal affecting the coastal state of Odisha with moderate to heavy rains from time to time. Till now, these rains have only turned out beneficial for farmers. Also, the precipitation has made easy the replenishment of groundwater level. On a good note, the state of Odisha didn’t get to see the fury of floods till now, as was seen by other neighboring states of Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Kerala.
