The residents of Maharashtra have been continuously battling with scorching heat during most of October. Moreover, the state has remained highly rain deficient by 80% resulting into dry weather conditions over almost all the districts of the state.

Only scanty rainfall had occurred in the past days over Marathwada. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Aurangabad in Marathwada received 3 mm of rainfall. These insufficient rain activities so far have resulted into arid conditions everywhere.

The maximum temperatures have also soared up by 3-4°C in many parts of Vidarbha giving no relief to people anytime soon.

Day maximums of northern parts of Madhya Maharashtra as well as Marathwada are also marginally above normal while the temperatures in Vidarbha are in the higher 30s.

However, a trough is expected to develop over Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining Marathwada which might bring some light rain with one or two moderate spells over South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada for next 24 to 48 hours thereby cooling down the weather in some parts for some time.

Likewise, Konkan and Goa would also receive light rain and residents could enjoy pleasant weather conditions for some time. These rain activities will continue till October 25 and are expected to marginally reduce the rain deficiency of Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra. However, after October 25, the weather in the region will once again become dry.

Further, no improvement in the weather of Vidarbha is expected and weather will continue to remain hot and dry.
