Bihar rains to continue, intensity may increase further

A cyclonic circulation persists over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and a trough is running from this system towards Northeast Bay of Bengal in the lower levels.

Due to this trough, during the last 24 hours, Gangetic West Bengal, South Jharkhand and few parts of Bihar received rainfall activity. Moderate rains occurred over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas of Jharkhand.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Purulia recorded 27 mm of rain, followed by Supaul 17 mm, Farbesganj 13 mm, Bankura 10 mm, Darbhanga 5 mm, Ranchi 3 mm and Muzaffarpur 1 mm.

Further also, similar rainfall activity will continue over Gangetic West Bengal for the next 24 hours. Moderate spells of rain are likely along with lighting strike and strong gusty wind over few parts. In fact, South Jharkhand will also receive light to moderate rainfall activity.

Northeast Bihar is expected to receive thundershower activity. Meanwhile, most parts of Bihar will mainly remain dry.

Moreover, due to the dry westerly winds blowing over the region, day temperatures in many parts of Bihar will rise significantly. However, morning and night will still remain comfortable.

After the next 24 hours, rainfall activity is expected to decrease over most parts of East India including Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
