The wait for winter rains has finally come to an end for Rajasthan, which is now all set to witness some showers. According to Skymet Weather, a fresh Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir has induced a cyclonic circulation over North Rajasthan and adjoining areas. The system has already given scattered very light rains over Rajasthan during the last 24 hours.

Now also, we expect short spells of rain and thundershower to occur over many parts of Rajasthan except southern and south-eastern districts. Places like Ajmer, Alwar, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, ,Churu,Dausa,Hanumangarh, Jaipur, Jhunjhunun, Karauli, Nagaur, Pali, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur, Sikar and Tonk are likely to see rain activity today. In fact, some parts have already started recording rains over the state.

We do not expect heavy rains and duration of these rains will be short. As per experts, rains will be in patches and will not cover all the areas. By December 13, the Western Disturbance will move further east and induced cyclonic circulation will also get weakened. Thus,  winds also change and cold northerly winds would once again commence over the region.

As per experts, December 13 onward, despite of rains, day and night temperature will fall due to cold winds. Post this, no major weather activity will take place because no active western disturbance is seen approaching that may induce a cyclonic circulation.

Initially, day and night temperatures of West Rajasthan will fall by 2-3° Celsius whereas, isolated places may experience a fall of 3-4° Celsius. Gradually, the eastern districts of the states will also experience fall in temperatures because of the winds traveling from the snow–clad mountains.
