Rain in Uttarakhand, Himachal to be heavy; Kashmir to see lesser rains

The states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have been seeing moderate to heavy rains for quite some time now. The last 24 hours have been rainy enough for these states with the foothills recording heavy showers. Rains have been on the higher side for the state of Uttarakhand.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Jammu recorded a whopping 82 mm of rainfall, Una saw 65 mm, Pantnagar 68 mm, Dehradun 28 mm, and Manali 5 mm.

Currently, a Western Disturbance as an upper air system is over northern parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Along with this, its induced cyclonic circulation is over northern parts of Haryana. Moreover, the western end of Monsoon trough is also passing across North Punjab and Haryana.

Due to these systems, moderate to heavy rains will continue over many parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during next 24 to 36 hours. Thereafter, rain intensity will decrease over these areas.

On the other hand, despite the Western Disturbance, the state of Jammu and Kashmir will see lesser rains as compared to other parts of the hills of North India. Temperatures will remain on the lower side for all the three sides.
