Rain, political drama throw life out of gear in Bihar

The political strife in Bihar is adding onto the woes of rain struck Bihar.  The Rail Roko agitation initiated by the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has upset the people in various parts of the state. Train services have been disrupted to protest against the denial of special category status to the state.

The cyclonic circulation has brought good amounts of rain in North, Central and East India including Patna, Chapra, Muzaffarpur in Bihar in the last 24 hours. According to latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the system will continue to fetch moisture from the Bay of Bengal during the next two days.

Rain and BJP party workers have been creating havoc in Bihar. The party members tried to stop trains and blocked railway tracks at many places including Darbhanga, Bettiah, Patna, Kaimur, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Hajipur, Madhepura, Nalanda and Jehanabad.

Hundreds of passengers were stranded as more than 25 trains including the Rajdhani Express, Sampark Kranti, Darbhanga-Samastipur were halted on Friday. According to media report, head honchos of the party claimed that the central government has been discriminating with Bihar in the grant of special category status. Senior leaders also requested passengers who have already booked tickets to avoid their journeys. Few brawls between strike supporters and students appearing for exams at Rajendra Nagar terminal in Danapur have also been reported.
