Rain to increase in Tamil Nadu; temperatures to maintain in North India

December 1, 2013 3:55 PM |

The cyclonic circulation in southwest Bay of Bengal may turn into a low pressure area off Sri Lanka coast by tonight. The weather system will have a significant effect on coastal Tamil Nadu during the next 48 hours. Rain will intensify in the coastal belts as winds associated with the low pressure area will have enough moisture to bring good wide spread showers in to this region. Some amont of rain may also be witnessed in interiors of south coastal Kerala but that would not be as wide spread as in Tamil Nadu.

Nagapattinam and Pumban received 13. 1 mm and 22.8 mm of rain respectively in the last 24 hours. Chennai, Karaikal, cuddalore and Trichy also witnessed rain due to weather activities near the east coast.

Other parts of South India i.e. Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana and adjoining areas have experienced dry weather in the past 24 hours. And it is expected to remain the same for the next two days.

Weather in North India will remain the same with marginal fluctuation in temperatures during the next two days. Night temperatures in Delhi will remain around 10 degrees which is just above normal of 8.4 degrees for the month of December. Adampur in Punjab was coldest place in the northwest plains with the minimum temperature recording 5.5 degrees on Sunday.

East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar has seen some improvement in the fog conditions in the last 24 hours. Low minimum temperatures and moisture being fed by easterly winds had led to thick fog conditions in Patna but a change in the winds may lead to fog reducing significantly in the next two days.
