Rains approaching West and East Uttar Pradesh; Central parts to remain dry

Uttar Pradesh has been gripped by dry and hot weather since many days. On October 9, the maximum temperatures recorded in cities like Bareilly was 38°C, Kanpur 37.4°C and Agra 36.8°C. All these temperatures were above normal by at least 4-5 degrees.

However, we might see some changes in the prevailing weather during the next 24 hours on account of couple of weather systems affecting the state.

Beginning with West Uttar Pradesh, there is a passage of fresh Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and its induced Cyclonic Circulation over North Rajasthan and adjoining Punjab and Haryana. Also, a trough is seen extending from this Cyclonic Circulation to West Uttar Pradesh.

Under the influence of this weather system, we expect clouding to increase over Northwest Uttar Pradesh and isolated light rain activities are possible over northwestern districts of Uttar Pradesh like Bareilly, Najibabad, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar  and Meerut.

East Uttar Pradesh might get affected because of Very Severe Cyclone, Titli. The sky is already partly cloudy over there, thus, bringing in isolated rains in few pockets. The Cyclone will cross the coast near South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh and will then head towards Gangetic West Bengal.

Since, East Uttar Pradesh lies in the outer peripherals of this weather system, so humid winds from Bay of Bengal will increase the levels of moisture over East Uttar Pradesh. This increase in humidity levels will lead to formation of clouds which might result in rains.

Meanwhile, central parts of Uttar Pradesh will remain unaffected by any of these weather systems. Thus, the inhabitants of Sitapur, Bahraich, Hardoi, and Kannauj  will continue to experience dry and hot weather conditions.
