Weather of Hyderabad was dry since the beginning of October as an anti-Cyclone was persisting over central parts of the country. Due to this, dry winds from northwest direction were blowing over many parts of Telangana including Hyderabad. Although, isolated light rains occurred over the city on October 14, despite this the weather remained mainly warm.

However, during the last 24 hours, the city of Hyderabad has recorded heavy rains to the tune of 38 mm.

The reason for these rains can be attributed to the development of a confluence zone over southern parts of Telangana. The dry winds from north and northeast are mixing with humid southeasterly winds, leading to scattered rain and thundershower activities over the state.

We expect a few more good showers over Hyderabad during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, the weather will go dry once again.

It’s being speculated that these ongoing scattered showers can reduce the rain deficiency persisting in Hyderabad to some extent. But this is a short-term relief as, the dry weather will return soon.

Talking about Northeast Monsoon for Telangana and Hyderabad, October is the rainiest month for the area, passing which a significant reduction in rains is seen in November and similarly in December. Average rainfall of Hyderabad for the month of October is 103.6 mm, and for the month of November it’s 26.1 mm. The city of pearls experiences a significant rain reduction by December when the average comes down to 4.9 mm.
