Since the beginning of October, entire Maharashtra has been receiving very good rains. Regions like Vidarbha and Marathwada has received decent rainfall that is why Marathwada is 201% surplus Vidarbha 111% surplus as on October 8.
During last 24 hours, moderate to heavy rainfall has occurred over many places over Vidarbha and Marathwada. Marathwada was reeling under severe drought for last 4-5 years has now received surplus rainfall during Southwest Monsoon. And in the month of October also heavy rainfall continues over the region.
Kharif crops in many district has damaged due to torrential rains and many areas of Marathwada are facing flood like situation.
Now we expect that light to moderate rains will continue for another 24 hours over Vidarbha and parts of Marathwada. Thereafter rain intensity will decrease significantly. Dry weather conditions will prevail over entire region.
So we can say, after 24 hours there will be relief from the rains and harvesting of Kharif crops which has already delayed in many areas will be coming. Despite the damage to crops, the water scarcity problem is solved. This will immensely benefit the upcoming Rabi crops.
