Rains forecast for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh by February 21

February 20, 2020 4:29 PM |

rain in Madhya Pradesh

After a prolonged dry spell, rains are being forecast for the duo states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh anytime soon.

The reason for these rains will be an East-west Trough which is extending from Northern Plains to Jharkhand across Northeast Madhya Pradesh and North Chhattisgarh. Moreover, southeasterly humid winds from Bay of Bengal will increase moisture over the region. Thus, we expect scattered light rains with one or two moderate spells to occur over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and Northeast Chhattisgarh on February 21.

These on and off rain and thundershowers are expected to continue over the region until February 24. Contrasting weather will be seen over East and West Madhya Pradesh. A few good spells of rain are being forecast for Sidhi, Satna, Panna, Umaria and Shadol. On the other hand, Indore, Bhopal, Ujjain, Ratlam, Khargone, Khandwa, Shivpuri and Gwalior will remain dry. At the same time, West and Central Madhya Pradesh will remain dry.

At the same time, good rains are being forecast for North Chhattisgarh. Places like Koriya, Korba, Sarguja, Ambikapur and Raipur may get rain activities whereas the southern districts such as Jagdalpur and adjoining parts will remain dry.

We expect the weather activities to remain more concentrated over North Chhattisgarh in comparison to Northeast Madhya Pradesh.

Weather will start clearing up over both the states by February 25.
