Northern and eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh experienced scattered light to moderate rainfall during last 24 hours. Reason for these rainfall activities was a trough which was extending from Rajasthan to North Bay of Bengal across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

These rainfall activities have occurred along the trough line and most pockets of the state have received good moderate rain showers. Sagar recorded 9 mm rainfall, Guna recorded 4 mm rainy spells, Jabalpur recorded 3 mm rain showers and Gwalior recorded 0.2 mm rainfall. These rainy spells and cloud cover over most parts of Madhya Pradesh have made the weather pleasant inducing a drop in the maximum temperature of the day.

For instance, Gwalior that had witnessed a maximum temperature of 45.1°C on June 9 observed a drop as day temperature came down to 44.8°C in a day.

Isolated rain activities will continue over parts of MP, therefore, we can expect there will be a further fall in maximum temperature. Winds have also started blowing from South West direction over Gujarat and Rajasthan and turning towards West Madhya Pradesh leading to abatement of heatwave conditions. In fact it can be concluded that during next 24 to 48 hours these humid and relatively cool winds will further gain a drop in temperature. Though many parts of the state will still observe the temperature over 40°C till the arrival of Monsoon for which we have to wait for at least next 8 to 10 days more.
