Rains lash Jammu and Kashmir, More downpour likely

During last 24 hours, the northern hills of India including Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh have received few good showers. While Uttarakhand has managed to witness scattered light rains only.

The reason for these showers can be attributed to a Western Disturbance as an upper air trough which is moving across north Jammu & Kashmir. This system has poured some good showers in the form of widespread light to moderate rains over Jammu & Kashmir.

Another Western Disturbance is seen in close proximity of Iran and adjoining areas. This has also given good showers over the state. Moreover, Himachal Pradesh has also managed to receive a few good spells during last 24 hours including parts of Uttarakhand also witnessing isolated light showers.

Let’s have a look at the rainfall recorded in a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday:

At present, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are witnessing 4 percent and 16 percent respectively lesser rains than its normal. On the contrary, Uttarakhand is witnessing a 2 percent more rains than its normal.

As per Skymet Weather, light to moderate rains are further likely over Jammu & Kashmir for another 24 hours. However, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are expected to witness few isolated light spells for next 24 hours.
