Rains lash Shimla, Manali; more showers in Himachal Pradesh in next 24 hrs

Rainy days are back again for the hills of North India as some of the popular hill stations witnessed rains in the last two to three days. The summer capital of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla has been receiving good rains since May 9

During the last 24 hours as well, Shimla received 26 mm of rainfall, along with nearby cities of Himachal Pradesh. Manali witnessed 11 mm of rainfall in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, followed by Una 9 mm, Dharamsala 4 mm, and Mandi 4 mm.

This year, unusually back to back Western Disturbances are affecting Western Himalayas, giving rain and snow over the hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Normally during this time of the year, Both the intensity and frequency of Western Disturbance reduces.

As of now, a fresh Western Disturbance is over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. Therefore, we expect scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers to continue over the state in the next 28-48 hours.

Thereafter, the weather will become dry, but still, this is the perfect weather for visiting the summer capital Shimla, as the weather will remain pleasant with temperatures around 24°C-25°C. Mornings and nights will be cool and maximum temperatures will be around 12°C-14°C.
