On and off pre-Monsoon showers have been going on over the southern parts of Karnataka since the beginning of May. However, the weather over northern districts of Karnataka has mostly remained dry with high temperatures.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Agumbe recorded 5.2 mm of rain, followed by Bengaluru and Chitradurga 8.6 mm, Gadag 8 mm, Honnavar 27.3 mm, Karwar 17.4 mm, Madikeri 3.6 mm, Mandya 8.2 mm, Mangaluru 18.8 mm, Mysuru 31 mm.

Currently, an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over coastal parts of South Tamil Nadu. A trough is seen extending from this system to South Madhya Maharashtra across Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka. Therefore, due to the disturbance of this system, cloudy sky conditions are expected to prevail over the entire state of Karnataka.

Light to moderate rain and thundershowers with few heavy spells may occur over many places of Karnataka as moisture incursion is seen from Arabian Sea as well as Bay of Bengal. These weather activities are likely to affect during the next 24-36 hours. Thereafter, rain intensity will decrease.

Even though fall in day temperatures is possible over the state due to extensive clouding and spells of showers but humid weather conditions will increase during this period.

Moderate rain and thundershowers with lightning may occur at many places during next 4-6 hours over South Goa, Bagalkot, Bengaluru, Bangalore Rural, Belgaum, Bellary, Bijapur, Chamarajanagar, Chikmagalur, Chitradurga, Dakshina Kannada, Davanagere, Dharwad, Gadag, Hassan, Haveri, Kodagu, Koppal, Mandya, Mysore, Ramanagara, Shimoga, Tumkur, Udupi and Uttara Kannada.
