Rain in Tamil Nadu

Since last many days, the state of Tamil Nadu and its adjoining areas have been witnessing above normal temperatures. The residents of most parts of the states in South India are conditioned to witness the dry weather conditions. However, tides are likely to take a fortunate turn.

Weather gods have finally decided to bestow some kindness over several parts of South India. States down south including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, as well as Andaman and Nicobar Islands are expected to witness some good rains.

This sudden change in the weather conditions are attributed to the presence of a trough which is close to the equator. This trough is extending up to the Sri Lanka region.

While the state of Kerala will witness some rains during the next 24 hours only, the southern parts of Tamil Nadu will witness rains for the next two to three days. Rainfall intensity will be higher over Andaman and Nicobar Islands as moderate rains are expected over the region.

In the span of 24 hours from 08:30am on Saturday, Nancowry received 6 mm of rainfall, Kozhikode received 0.4 mm of rainfall.

In the latter half of the week, this light rainfall activity is likely to continue but this time around, areas like Chennai will also come under the rain belt.
