Kerala rain

The tale of dry weather that has been persisting over the state of Kerala since the beginning of March took a break when some rains finally showed up on the state on March 14. Since then, on and off rains have been keeping the state wet.

In the last 24 hours also many parts of Kerala recorded light with isolated moderate rains. In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Kozhikode recorded 23 mm of rains, Coonoor 8 mm, Alappuzha 2.4 mm, while Kochi also witnessed some rainy traces.

As per Skymet Weather, the low-pressure area which was over Lakshadweep has now become less marked. Moreover, a trough is also extending from South Tamil Nadu to Odisha which is likely to move further eastwards.

The combination of both these weather systems is expected to increase the rainfall activity gradually over the region. Hence, for the next 24 hours, mainly scattered light rains with few moderate spells are expected over the northern and northeastern parts of the state.
