West Coast post

West coast is one of the rainiest regions during the Southwest Monsoon Season. It has also been observed that since the last few days, moderate to heavy showers with few heavy spells are going on along the west coast.

However, since last 24 hours, rains have reduced significantly over Konkan & Goa and Coastal Karnataka. But isolated light rains were being observed over Konkan & Goa and light to moderate over Coastal Karnataka.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Agumbe recorded 100 mm of rain, followed by Madikeri 77 mm, Mahabaleshwar 37 mm, Kochi 29 mm, Thane 25 mm, Thrissur 24 mm.

In spite of reduction in rain activity, Kerala is still receiving good spells of rain. But now we expect rains to further reduce over Coastal Karnataka and Kerala. Therefore, we can say that Monsoon will become weak over the entire West Coast for at least next 2 days.

Thereafter, intensity of rain may pick up pace over Kerala and Coastal Karnataka. However, we do not expect any significant increase of rain over Konkan & Goa for at least one week.

So, Monsoon which was active to vigorous over entire west coast has taken a backseat and now weak Monsoon conditions are expected to continue over most parts of West Coast. However, all the meteorological divisions that fall under the west coast are surplus.
