The Deep Depression is still over Southwest Bay and adjoining Sri Lanka coast. The system is moving fast and is likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm shortly while moving in north- northwesterly direction towards the Andhra Pradesh coast. During the last few days, due to a Confluence Zone, parts of Telangana and adjoining areas have received scattered rain and thundershower activities mainly over the northern parts of the region.

In the last 24 hours also, isolated rain activity was observed over the area. Weather remained pleasant with light mist and haze during the morning hours.

As the system is coming closer to the Andhra Pradesh coast, the coastal areas will observe strong winds with rough to very rough sea conditions. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea. Rain and thundershower activity are likely by the evening over the coastal areas.

Moderate rainfall is expected over the northern parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh with strong squally winds reaching 45-55 kmph which will increase over time. Gradually, rain and thundershower activity will spread and is likely to cover more and more parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by tomorrow i.e. December 16. Rainfall activity is also likely to enhance over the coastal areas during next 24 to 48 hours. Heavy rainfall is expected on stations like Ongole, Kakinada. Machilipatnam, Vijayapatnam, and Kalingapatnam during the next 24 hours.
