At present, a Low-Pressure Area is over Northeast Bay of Bengal off North Odisha coast. Now, the system would be moving West-Northwestwards. Apart from this system, a Cyclonic Circulation is also persisting over southern parts of Bangladesh and adjoining parts of Gangetic West Bengal at lower levels.

Under the influence of these systems, light to moderate rains will continue to affect many places over Gangetic West Bengal and Southern parts of Jharkhand during the next two to three days. Places like North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Canning, Midnapore, Purulia, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Gumla, Hazaribagh etc. might experience these rains.

The Kolkata city is also set to witness some rains. The city might experience light rains and thundershowers during the next two to three days. However, generally, the weather will remain warm and humid over the city. Maximum temperatures would be between 33 to 35 degrees. Night temperatures might remain close to 26 degrees.

During the last 24 hours, moderate rains occurred at many places over Gangetic West Bengal. Jharkhand also experienced light to moderate rains and thundershowers at some places. While northern parts of both the states remained mostly dry.

As on August 24, the seasonal rainfall is deficient by 28% over both Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal These rains are likely to reduce the deficit of rainfall.  Also, some relief will set in from the continuous warm and sultry weather prevailing over the region. These rains will definitely bring some relief to the farmers.
