According to Skymet Weather, this change in the weather conditions can be attributed the trough running north of Delhi. Till now, this trough was running south of Delhi but the passage of fresh Western Disturbance has pulled the trough northwards now.

This east-west trough is semi-permanent feature during the Monsoon season, which keeps on oscillating north-south. This oscillation of trough is primarily responsible for Monsoon rains across the northwestern plains along with East India during the season.

Further weathermen predict that we are expecting few short spells of rain and thundershowers over Delhi NCR today.
With the trough getting more marked, intensity of spread of rains is likely to increase by tomorrow and on and off rains will continue for at least 4-5 days.

These rains will also be also be responsible for the onset of Monsoon over Delhi during the next 24-48 hours. Normal date of arrival of Monsoon is around June 28 and delay of a day or two is considered to be normal.
