Light to moderate rainfall activities continued over the states of West Bengal and Odisha during the past 24 hours with isolated pockets seeing heavy showers. For instance, Titlagarh and Cooch Behar recorded 39 mm of rains each, Darjeeling 8 mm, Balasore 4 mm, Keonjhargarh 3 mm, Koraput 3 mm and Digha 2 mm.

Now, a trough is extending from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Gangetic West Bengal, with an off shore trough running along the east coast from South Coastal Odisha up to Tamil Nadu.
Due to these weather features, the intensity of rainfall will augment over Odisha as well as West Bengal. the intensity of rainfall will increase over Odisha as well as West Bengal. There is an anticipation of few moderate spells to occur in parts of both the states like Balasore, Cuttack, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Puri, Kolkata, Midnapore, Bankura, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar.
These on and off good rain and thundershowers are anticipated to continue over these cited areas for at least the next 48 hours. Thereafter, the intensity of showers would curtail but isolated activity may still continue.
