As predicted by Skymet Weather, the rains over Maharashtra saw a massive reduction in the rain activities. From recording extremely heavy rains a couple of days back, the rains had now loosened its intensity. On the last day also, rains continued over the state at a reduced intensity.
Among that also, moderate with one or two heavy spells are still continuing over Konkan region, though the intensity is on the higher side over South Konkan primarily. Parts of South Madhya Maharashtra, adjacent to South Konkan had also recorded isolated heavy rains.
Meanwhile, North Konkan and North Madhya Maharashtra managed with some light with isolated moderate rains only. On the other hand, Vidarbha saw some moderate with isolated heavy spells. However, subdued rains were observed over Marathwada.
In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Thursday, Mahabaleshwar recorded a whopping 171 mm of extremely heavy rains, Ratnagiri 87 mm, Kolhapur 55 mm, Akola 46 mm, Gondia 37 mm, Chandrapur 19 mm, Harnai 18 mm, Sangli 14 mm, Nashik 12 mm, Solapur 11 mm, Amravati 4 mm, Bramhapuri 4 mm, Pune 4 mm, and Dahanu recorded 3 mm of rains.

The heavy chaotic rains over Mumbai also reduced and during the similar time frame, Mumbai's Santa Cruz Observatory recorded 3 mm of rains, with slightly more being recorded by Colaba Observatory at 4 mm.
As per Skymet Weather, the offshore trough is running from Coastal Karnataka to Kerala coast. Moreover, the cyclonic circulation is also persisting over South Gujarat region.
Hence, we expect light to moderate with few heavy spells to continue over Konkan and Vidarbha regions. Meanwhile, light to moderate rains are expected over Madhya Maharashtra. Marathwada on the other hand would continue to remain dry with chances of isolated showers in pockets only.
At this stage, let us see the impact of this weather on the agriculture belt of Maharashtra:
Farmers of Konkan and Vidarbha region are recommended to continue sowing of Kharif crops.
For Marathwada, farmers are advised to wait for sowing in the areas where sufficient amount of rain has not occurred. Farmers are also suggested to stay watchful and take necessary measures to control spodoptera litura in the early sown crops.
