Since last many days, Southwest Monsoon has remained weak over Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Marathwada regions. In fact, Konkan & Goa region has continued to witness moderate rains along with few heavy spells at several places. Hence, cities such as Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Mahabaleshwar, Vengurla, Harnai, Bhira and Nanded have been experiencing pleasant and comfortable weather conditions for quite a long time now.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Ratnagiri recorded 69.3 mm of rainfall, Mahabaleshwar 57.2 mm, Harnai 37.2 mm, Vengurla 31.2 mm, Bhira 31 mm, Nanded 14 mm, Beed 8.3 mm, Alibag 5.6 mm, Mumbai 5.1 mm, Nagpur 4.2 mm, Osmanabad 4.1 mm, Udgir 3.1 mm, Satara 1.1 mm and Gondia 1 mm.

These weather condition can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which is seen over Northeast parts of the Arabian Sea and adjoining areas of Kutch region. Due to this, moderate showers along with few heavy spells are likely to continue over Konkan & Goa region for the next two to three days.

Thereafter, the rainfall intensity over this region is expected to increase even further. Moreover, the offshore trough that is running along the West Coast has also become active once again thus, contributing in these rains.
