Hyderabad Rains

The state of Telangana is likely to have good rains in the coming days commencing 09th October and continuing till 12th October or even beyond. Rainfall will be widespread and could be heavy at places between 10th and 12th October. The capital city of Hyderabad which has not seen a rainy day in the first week of October is likely to have good showers with pleasant weather conditions.

Telangana received excess rainfall to the tune of +46% during the southwest monsoon season (June- September). Northeast monsoon is generally not very active for Telangana and seasonal rainfall (Oct-Nov-Dec) amounts to 123.7mm. About 75% of this amount (92.7mm) is realized in October itself and December remains the least rainiest with 6.8mm rainfall. The first week of Oct 2020 has been poor with mere 11.9mm rainfall against normal of 33.6mm (-64%).

A low pressure area is forming in the Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours and is likely to intensify to depression over Central Bay of Bengal. The weather system is expected to cross Andhra Pradesh coast on 11th Oct and move across parts of Telangana and Maharashtra subsequently. Overcast sky with thick clouds and intermittent rain and thundershowers are quite likely over many parts of the state including the capital city. Another weather system is trailing this depression in the Bay of Bengal and will possibly lash another spell maybe with a pause of a couple of days.
