Monsoon remained vigorous over the state of Maharashtra on last to last day that was already predicted by Skymet Weather. In fact, Marathwada also, after reeling under a prolonged dry spell, finally saw some good rains occurring. The intensity of rains was much more over Vidarbha and Marathwada wherein most pockets recorded rains in three-digit.

However, after lashing heavily, rains over the state saw a reduction and apart from the isolated pocket of Marathwada and South Konkan, other parts recorded mainly light to moderate rains.

In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Friday, Jalna recorded a whopping 160 mm of rains, Mahabaleshwar 82 mm, Amravati 45 mm, Thane 32 mm, Ratnagiri 12 mm, Chandrapur 11 mm, Udgir 11 mm, Vengurla 9 mm, Nashik 9 mm, Yeotmal 8 mm, Wardha 8 mm, Kolhapur 6 mm, Wahism 5 mm, Harnai 5 mm, Mumbai 4 mm, Pune 3 mm, and Nanded recorded 2 mm of rains.

According to Skymet Weather, as of now, most pockets of Maharashtra are likely to continue getting some light to moderate rains. There are several weather systems that would influence rains over different regions of the state.

Firstly, the remnant of the low-pressure area which at present lies over Northwest Madhya Pradesh would give some light rains over parts of Vidarbha, In conjunction to this, a cyclonic circulation which at present lies over northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast may also intensify into a low-pressure area. This system would travel westwards towards Vidarbha and Marathwada, resulting in light rain with isolated moderate showers in parts of these two divisions.

Alongside, a cyclonic circulation can also be marked over South Gujarat coast. Simultaneously, the off-shore trough is also extending from Konkan to Kerala coast. Under the influence of these two weather systems, Konkan and adjoining Madhya Maharashtra region may also receive some moderate rains for the next 48 hours.

Hence, the rainy days for the state are not to be said over yet.
