Rainy Week For Bengaluru, Few Heavy Showers Likely

May 3, 2023 12:57 PM |

The capital city of Karnataka has turned pleasant with off-and-on showers since last evening.  Rains have generally been light and amounted to just 1mm of rainfall in 24 hours. Prior to that, silicon city had received decent moderate showers on 2 successive days. More showers are likely in the coming days to stretch the wet spell till the weekend.

Seasonal peninsular India trough running through the central parts is quite active. Moist winds off the coast of Tamil Nadu are building convergence over the region. Tamil Nadu will receive heavy rains and the spillover effect will reach South Interior Karnataka, catching the capital city with moderate showers, almost daily till 08th May.

Persistent weather activity may dampen the state election hype. However, most of the weather activity will take place late in the day and last till midnight.  A broad clearance is expected after 09th May to make it convenient for the voters on D- Day, 10th May.

With frequent and prolonged activity, weather conditions will generally remain comfortable. Otherwise, the first half of May is considered the hottest period for Bengaluru with day temperature occasionally breaching the 35-degree mark. Day and night temperatures will hover around 30-31degree and 20-21degree respectively for the next 7 days.
