Most parts of Northwest India are under the influence of dry and hot weather conditions which is primarily due to the withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from the country. In fact, Monsoon rains had already vacated most parts of Northwest India from a long time due to which the mercury levels shot up to settle at an above normal range.

The maximums, particularly in Rajasthan and Gujarat, have scaled up tremendously with most parts of these states witnessing a beyond 35-degree mark. The similar weather continued in both the states in the last 24 hours also wherein Churu in Rajasthan surpassed the 40-degree mark.

However, districts such as Jaisalmer, Phalodi, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar and Bundi have seen the daytime high settling close to 40 degrees. Somewhat alike weather prevailed in parts of Gujarat as well. Ahmedabad, Deesa, Bhuj, Kandla, and Idar have recorded a close to 37-degree Celsius maximum temperature in the last 24 hours.

As per Skymet Weather, similar weather conditions are likely to continue in most parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat. Such a kind of weather is all due to the absence of any significant weather system over the region. Moreover, Southwest Monsoon has also vacated parts of Northwest India including Gujarat and Rajasthan.

In addition to this, at present, dry and warm northwesterly winds are also prevailing over the region that is paving way for clear and sunny sky. Thus, the maximums may further increase leading to hot weather conditions over both the states. However, South Gujarat may witness a few light spells during the weekend as well.
