Remnants of Cyclone Mora intensifies pre-Monsoon rains in Kolkata

rain in kolkata Kolkata has been recording pre-Monsoon rains for the last four consecutive days. However, Wednesday saw increase in the intensity of rains over the state capital. All thanks to remnants of Cyclone Mora, which is now seen over Assam as a cyclonic circulation only.

Not only this, a trough has been running from Bihar up to Coastal Andhra Pradesh, which has further fueled the rain activity.
In wake of these systems, rain bearing clouds were seen hovering Kolkata since afternoon and showers finally appeared over the city around 3:45 pm.

At present also, several parts of the city are recording moderate rainfall, accompanied with squally winds. According to weathermen, this rainy spell will continue for another two to three hours.

As a result, weather has become extremely pleasant over the city with mercury settling around 34°C. Further, weather conditions will remain conducive for these pre-Monsoon rains and thundershowers to continue for another 24 hours but intensity will be much less.

Weathermen are of view that on and off rains will continue to lash the city of joy till the onset of Monsoon, which is most likely to arrive June 10.
