September ends with another low pressure over Bay of Bengal, may become depression

September 28, 2021 1:51 PM |

Tropical Storm Dianmu caused a lot of damage in Vietnam and adjoining areas. The system weakened thereafter and has now entered the Bay of Bengal region.

The system is now a cyclonic circulation over North East Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Central Bay and is expected to intensify into a low pressure area anytime now. The system will not follow the previous systems tracks and will move in more of a northward direction towards West Bengal and adjoining Odisha.

While is not expected to be as strong as its predecessor which had intensified into cyclonic storm Gulab, there are fair chances of the system reaching a depression stage. The system has already manifested itself in terms of a cloud mass over the region and its peripherals are already reaching the coastal stations of West Bengal with rains in Kolkata already making an appearance.

As the system will become more marked and reach closer to the coast, rains are expected not only in many parts of West Bengal and Odisha but Jharkhand will also be the state receiving good rainfall activities in the next 24 hours or so.
